Answers to How to Build a List.
I will answer some of those questions that come to mind when building an Internet business. One question that is asked quite often and believe me there are a lot of people asking for the answers to, how to build a list? Later in this article we will go through the steps that will build a list.
Is building a list necessary when you have an Internet business? I will answer this question right now by saying it is not necessary but if you wish to take advantage of list building you will have the potential of raising your Internet business income to a few more digits before the decimal point.
What is a list some newbies may ask? A list is actually the lifeline of some Internet marketers business. They depend solely on list building and selling to that list. I would suggest to build your business with many variables and use list building as one of those variables. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, more or less.
First of all a list is names and email addresses one collects with hopes of being able to help those people with a solution to some problem they may have. That solution usually means an income source for the Internet business person.
What problems could you solve you might ask? Knowing this will give you the potential to make money. There are all kinds of problems to be solved. Solutions to how to beat a video game, how to knit a sweater, how to lose weight and keep it off, how to play guitar, how to fix a computer. The sky is the limit.
You set up a website of some sort with a product, whether it may be your own, or as an affiliate of someone else's product. My personal favorite.
On the website you place an opt in form. I am sure you have seen them before. That short form that you fill in your name and email and receive something free, anything from a newsletter to discount coupons. Where do you get the form to put on your website? You purchase an auto responder service and it is included. An autoresponder collects those names that people opt in for a free gift and your list begins to grow.
For an example of a list building system, lets say I have a website selling how to make smoothies that will help you lose weight and raise your energy level at the same time. On that website I may have an opt in form that says I will give you one free smoothie recipe that tastes great and is easy to make, leaves you feeling full and will help
you lose weight. All you have to do is fill in your first name and email address and you will receive the recipe in your email.
If I was looking to lose weight this sounds pretty good, so I would probably go ahead and fill in the short form. With most auto responder services such as the one I use, you will be asked to go to your email and confirm your request to receive information. Once you click on the link you will receive your free smoothie recipe. Now I have a new person on my list that I can send more information and possible product promotions.
You can set up your auto responder ahead of time to send out a series of information such as tips and other weight loss information that will be useful to your list. The auto responder will automatically send out the information. The information can be sent out in a series that you can set up to be sent at a predetermined time intervals such as 3 days a part, a week apart, a month, and so on. You also have the option of sending out a global broadcast to all of your list right away. This is useful for a new product launch and so on.
To start building your list right away, get yourself an auto responder service such as aweber, this is the one I use and I am very satisfied with. Set up a list in your aweber account. The system will walk you it. Get the form for your list in your auto responder account and place it on your website. Use a great offer to entice people to opt in. An offer such as a free report, a newsletter with great information, a free product or whatever information that a person landing on your website might find useful enough to give you their name and email address.
Follow up with your opt in members frequently to keep yourself fresh in their memory. Give them more information that is useful. Build a relationship with your list and gain their trust. Its ok now and then to throw an offer at them that you think they will find interesting. Keep your offers of quality and not quantity. This will build your credibility and earn their respect.
List building can be quite profitable. Just remember as you build your list, to keep them responsive, make sure your list building is targeted to a theme. Always share useful information that will keep them interested. Build a trust that you earn with honesty and your list will respect you.
