The main rules to be followed in E-mail Marketing are

Disadvantages:

-> The biggest disadvantage of email marketing is that emails will sometimes be treated as spam mails and will be sent to the Spam folder. Even legitimate, our mails will also be treated as Spam. To prevent this from happening, avoid using words like "free, you win, discounts, coupons etc..." in the subject line.
